The Inquirer ponders why Apple chose to go with Intel rather than AMD. AMD has a clear technology advantage over Intel in the 64 bit segment. The reason: AMD is already facing short supplies of its processors. And if rumour is to be believed, Dell is lining up with suppliers in Taiwan to buy them. If that’s so, then such a shortage means that supplies are tight enough that Apple might not have been able to get AMD processors in the quantities they expect they’ll need over the next twelve to eighteen months. Instead, Apple chose Intel because it was the safest choice. Intel has more than enough capacity laying around to keep Apple in CPUs for a while. Intel was basically a conservative choice for Apple.

1“Dell is lining up with suppliers in Taiwan to buy them.”
Did you mean AMD chips? If so, then they must be serious about Dell AMD contrary to what other pseudo-analysts are saying.

2Yes, grapevine has it that Dell has already told suppliers in Taiwan that it wants AMD chips.
