If you have a Palm Treo 700w or Audiovox XV6700 [both from Verizon], you might face the problem of Activesync stuck at connecting even though a Windows Mobile based device network adapter would show up under Network Connections/Device Manager of your computer and all anti-virus/firewall software being disabled. The reason this may be happening is Wireless Sync which comes preinstalled on Verizon phones may disable the Activesync connection. To check do the following:
On the Windows Mobile device, go to Start—–>Programs——>Wireless Sync.
There should be a tab Activesync Setup with 3 options for Enable Activesync Connection:
1) Ask each time
2) Disable
3) Enable
Choose the Enable Option. And Voila! you should be able to synchronize!

2Hi - I am having a problem with Activesync 4.1 hanging at ‘connecting’. However, Wireless Sync does not seem to be activated - it asks me to activate it and there is no Activesync tab.
Thanks

4Hello. I have had the some problem with wireless sync disabling ActiveSync. The twist is that Wireless Sync became corrupted and as a result I had to reinstall it. As luck would have it, the original install of wireless sync had disabled Activesync (and would never completely uninstall). As such, the setting I have on my new Wireless Sync install do nothing to allow/disallow the use of Activesync (the old settings are still taking precedence).
The question I have is does anyone know what the registry setting(s) is/are that Wireless Sync puts in the registry to diable the use of Activesync (when configured to disable Activesync in the Wireless Sync configuration)?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks.

5Thanks! That worked!
Who would think to get to Active Sync from VZW Sync, I thought they were two completely different things.
