Today the official Google Blog was unavailable for quite some time. Google figured it out why (interesting!!):
We’ve determined the cause of tonight’s outage. The blog was mistakenly deleted by us (d’oh!) which allowed the blog address to be temporarily claimed by another user. This was not a hack, and nobody guessed our password.

Update: CNET is reporting that Sun Microsystems’ Grid, a publicly available computing service, was hit by a denial-of-service network attack on its inaugural day.
Dealing with the issue was relatively easy: Sun moved the service to be within the regular Sun Grid, which requires authorization to use.
