Microsoft seems to have landed the biggest ever contract for its Windows Mobile 5.0 PDAs/Smartphones worth $600 million for the U.S. Census Bureau. The bureau has signed up for 500,000 phones made by handset manufacturer HTC and will be used to take the 2010 census. This is sure to be a major setback to Blackberry, one of the most popular handheld emails provider.
The main advantage of Windows Mobile over Blackberry is that Exchange Activesync is integrated with the Exchange Server 2003 which is the most popular server for corporates unlike Blackberry where you need to install an additional middleware server. And with Exchange 12 , Windows Mobile is further at an advantage.
