Recently I switched over from Windows Desktop Search to Copernic Desktop Search mainly because WDS was a memory hogger. I have read a lot about Copernic DS and the unanimous vote is that it takes the least amount of memory and is the fastest in its category. An important feature of WDS which I miss in CDS is its integration with Outlook 2003. There isn’t any toolbar for Outlook either. With WDS one could create virtual folders consisting keywords and also the ability to search within the Outlook window. But to gain something, you must lose something. I have atleast 13+ items in my Windows startup and performance is quite important for me. Another great add on with Copernic Desktop Search is the free support they offer that I just experienced. All of a sudden CDS started giving errors and would not load. It gave an option to send an error report to Copernic as well as be contacted by email. And sure enough someone from Copernic sent me an email with a technical resolution to the problem. Now which desktop search software does that?
Anyway I am quite satisfied with CDS.
