eBay is planning to launch a version of Skype for dual mode Windows Mobile smartphones which can be used over a 3G or a WiFi connection. Skype already has a version of Skype for Pocket PCs. The dual-mode concept would be offered by the mobile phone vendors in support of UMA (unlicensed mobile access), a facility for swapping between wireless and cellular. A client for both WM 2003SE and WM 5.0 is under development.
