By default, in Windows Mobile Pocket PC, you cannot change the location of a CAB file installed for any software from the GUI of PPC. So even if the developer of the software hasn’t specified a path to install the software to, it will still go to the default Windows folder. Cabinstl is a free utility that allows you to change the installation path of a software’s CAB file to any folder you want if the CAB file does not specify an installation path. Some programs may require to install to a system folder. Cabinstl will not affect those installations.
You can also choose not to delete the CAB file after installation of the software. With Windows Mobile 5.0, you can even view the contents of a CAB file.

1EXACTLY what I was looking for! Fantastic tool, especially with my device (HTC Hermes/TyTn, mine’s branded as T-Mobile Vario 2 as I got it contract) there such little onboard memory being able to install to my 1gb MicroSD card is essential, as well as being a good idea to boot.
Thanks for publicising this, you’ve saved me a LOT of hassle :)
