You connect your Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC/Smartphone to Activesync 4.2 with a memory/storage card inserted. Activesync will connect and synchronize successfully but Windows Media Player 10 on your desktop will not recognize the memory/storage card inserted in the device.
To resolve this issue, you can try two things:
1) Check for free space on the storage card. There should be quite some free space left for the DRM/ license details to be written to the MSMETADATA folder
2) Use the File Explorer and delete a Hidden folder called MSMETADATA and try to sync again

3Many thanks for this post. I was having a problem with my HTC Tytn no longer recognising the storage card so could no longer play tracks on my Windows Mobile Media Player. I deleted the MSMETADATA file as recommended and it worked immediately. When I rang Vodafone support, they had no idea how to fix the problem and I was left so frustrated I was thinking about either reinstalling Windows Mobile or more drastically changing my phone. Many thanks once again!
