Toshiba Bluetooth stack is very difficult when it comes to configuring Bluetooth services. Here’s how to setup your desktop for Bluetooth Activesync to work properly:

Note: You might need to delete all your prior Bluetooth partnerships from the device or even hard reset it to get it working.

1. Go to the “Bluetooth Local COM” Applet in your Control Panel
2.Open “Bluetooth Local COM” applet where you will see a list of Ports
3. The Corerct port you need to use is
“COM7 Toshiba BT Port (COM7) LocalCOM-Server[SerialPort(TOSHIBA LocalCOM)]
and not “COM6 Toshiba BT Port (COM6) LocalCOM-Client”
4. If you don’t see a Server COM port, go ahead and create a “Bluetooth virtual COM port for a Server”
5. Go to Bluetooth Settings—>Options—>General—>Select “PAN Networking service”
6. Go to Activesync–>File—>Connection settings and Enable “Allows connections to one of the following COM#” where # is the Server COM port in Step 3 or 4

Once you’e done all this, initiate Activesync via Bluetooth on your Windows Mobile 5 device and Activesync on the desktop should be able to recognize the mobile device and setup a apartnership.
