Thanks! I guess I wasnt thinking about creating a serial port and forcing ActiveSync through that, but that’s what I did. I edited the reg key to show COM7 and I created a local COM7 serial port on my computer in the Bluetooth config. I then went to the Windows Mobile Sync Center (Win 7 here) and set it sync via COM7 instead of what I had previously picked, Bluetooth. I re-did the bluetooth pairing once again and the formerly non-working Serial Port service had changed to ‘ActiveSync’, and it freaking worked! Hallelujah, bluetooth is a pain. It took me days to even get the WIDCOMM/Broadcom stack working on my BCM2045.

worked a treat - setup Com 7 (deleted other ports) - removed existing BT config on phone, soft reset and presto - Bluetooth synch :)

FYI For me step 5 was slightly different. Options is found in the right-click menu of the BT tray icon. My Dell is running Toshiba Bluetooth stack v4.00.22.

I tried all, but every time i try to sicronize it says i dont have a partneship with a activesync computer…. what can i do?
I have a toshiba a300d with toshiba bluetooth stack and i’m trying to sinc with a toshiba g810 pda.
Please help….

I gave up on syncing an HTC Touch via BT in 2008 until stumbling upon this tutorial. Works perfect. How many (almost) 3 year tutorials can claim such a following?!?

Thanks for the great post. However, I did have some problems with setting up my HTC Touch with an ASUS N10J and thought I would post just in case someone was having the same problem. I am not sure why this worked……..as it really shouldn’t, but it did! I added the com port 7 in the BT Stack, then com port 7 on the activesync………but it still didn’t work. Then, for some reason, I added the outgoing com port on the HTC as 8 and tried it again. It worked! Like I said, I don’t know why it worked but it did :) Just thought I would post as I have been working on this for at least two weeks and got NO help from ASUS.

I got it to work following these direction on my AT&T Epix. I had to do only a soft reset, not a hard reset, so try that first.

Thanks a bunch, works like a charm, and I was about to pull my hair out! Only thing is, for some reason, on my system it was COM4 instead of COM7 before the handset saw ActiveSync as an available service. This was using a Zoom 4310B USB Bluetooth adapter, ActiveSync 4.5.0, Windows XP and the HTC Touch (Vogue).
