I gave up on syncing an HTC Touch via BT in 2008 until stumbling upon this tutorial. Works perfect. How many (almost) 3 year tutorials can claim such a following?!?

Hey! Great Abdul! Step 3 gave me just enough information about the correct port to use!

ActiveSync works like a charm now.

Thanks for the great post. However, I did have some problems with setting up my HTC Touch with an ASUS N10J and thought I would post just in case someone was having the same problem. I am not sure why this worked……..as it really shouldn’t, but it did! I added the com port 7 in the BT Stack, then com port 7 on the activesync………but it still didn’t work. Then, for some reason, I added the outgoing com port on the HTC as 8 and tried it again. It worked! Like I said, I don’t know why it worked but it did :) Just thought I would post as I have been working on this for at least two weeks and got NO help from ASUS.

I got it to work following these direction on my AT&T Epix. I had to do only a soft reset, not a hard reset, so try that first.

Thanks a bunch, works like a charm, and I was about to pull my hair out! Only thing is, for some reason, on my system it was COM4 instead of COM7 before the handset saw ActiveSync as an available service. This was using a Zoom 4310B USB Bluetooth adapter, ActiveSync 4.5.0, Windows XP and the HTC Touch (Vogue).

Just wanted to say thanks for the post. Couldn’t get ActiveSync over Bluetooth working on my Dell Axim X51v until I read your post! The Toshiba help file has a section dedicated to ActiveSync and nowhere does it mention you have to have PAN networking enabled!

hi and thank you for the tutorial you gave, but I have a problem …
my laptop is TOSHIBA tablet .. and I came to know that the bluetooth is inside the PC itself and I dont have to use the USB .. the problem is I can do the above mentioned steps simply because when I open : CONTROL PANEL -> BLUETOOTH LOCAL COM , the following comes in front of me ” PORT COM4 ” , if I click on it, to added , they say ‘ the Bluetooth device is not ready ‘ … !! what shall I do ? please HELP !!
