All Symbian based Nokia S60, Sony Ericsson UIQ and Windows Mobile based devices sync only with Outlook. Fortunately for Windows Mobile, there is a free software called Finchsync which allows you to sync your Windows Mobile device with Outlook automatically. For Symbian based devices, we have to follow a two step process.
Step 1
======
1) Download and install the free Zyb mobile client for your Nokia or Sony Ericsson mobile phone from https://zyb.com/
2) Synchronize your contacts to Zyb’s online server directly from your mobile device via GPRS
Step 2
=====
1) On your desktop computer, go to http://topologilinux.com/syncml/ and download a free extension called tsync for Mozilla Thunderbird/Seamonkey that allows you to sync your Thunderbird client to Zyb.com via SyncML
For Thunderbird 1-1.5,Seamonkey 1.0, the download link is- http://www.topologilinux.com/tsync/0.2/tsync.xpi
For Thunderbird 2 and Seamonkey 1.1, the download link is- http://www.topologilinux.com/tsync/cvs/tsync.xpi
2) In Thunderbird/Seamoney, Select Tools –>Extension and Install (choose tsync.xpi). Then Restart Thunderbird/Seamonkey.
3) Under options for this plug-in, setup your Zyb account and hit Sync.
That’s it! This way, you should be able to sync your Nokia and Sony Ericsson contacts to Mozilla Thunderbird indirectly.

5I am sceptical about free resources like Zyb mobile & Plaxo
Why are they offering these services for free. What is their ultimate aim? To get as many contact details as possible and make money selling the database?

9This is SO stupid! I installed Thunderbird yesterday and searching my ass off to get it synced with my N95 :( Nokia made Symbian Open Source, so there should be NO problem at all to write a good sync-program

Nokia has committed to making Symbian Open Source, but has not actually done so yet. They are in the process of doing so. Further, just because it is Open Source doesn’t mean that there is “NO problem” to writing a sync program. Synchronization software seems to be difficult to implement well, even from people who have an inside view of the software.
However, S60 uses SyncML as their underlying sync technology, which actually makes it slightly easier to work with since that is a somewhat standardized form of synchronizing.
My best advice for you is to sync your n95 with an Internet based SyncML server (such as the free ScheduleWorld) and then have Mozilla Thunderbird synchronize to the SyncML server.
