Sony Ericsson has announced its intent to acquire Swedish company UIQ Technology AB, a subsidiary of Symbian. UIQ is a subset of Symbian OS and is used by Sony Ericsson as the de facto OS in its mobile devices just like S60 (another subset of Symbian) is used by Nokia.
