Microsoft has released Virtual Earth 3D, a new version of the Windows Live online mapping service that allows users to browse through3D models of cities directly within their Web browser along with virtual billboards.
Users can type a query into Windows Live Search and click on the “Maps” tab to bring up results in a local context, with the ability to view 2D aerial, satellite and bird’s-eye imagery, or the new 3D models. Virtual Earth 3D uses photographs to create realistic, textured buildings and is currently available for a few US cities only
