Tip- Installing Telnet client on Microsoft Windows Vista

Telnet is a command line client for accessing protocols like HTTP,SMTP,etc on a remote computer/server.

Windows Vista by default does not ship with the Telnet client installed. To install it, do the following:

1. Click Start and go to the Control Panel
2. Select Programs and Features
3. Select Turn Windows features On or Off.
4. Check the Telnet Client option and click OK

I tried doind the following steps above, a window pops up saying please wait while Vista configures the features, hwever after configuring the feature I try ti run telnet in a command propmt I receive a message saying ‘telnet’ is not recognized as a command or batc file. I have tried turing off User Account Controls and tha trying to turn on Telnet client but it still doesn’t work. I’m running windows vista ultimate.
