iMapia is a freeware J2ME mapping application for Java capable mobile devices such as Nokia, Motorola, Blackberry,etc to get maps, railroads, driving directions and local points of interest such as banking, restaurants, shopping centers, etc in United States from your mobile device.
Here are the main features of this application:
-Mobile Maps: You can search maps using a street address, intersection, postal zip code or GPS Latitude/Longitude coordinates
-Driving Directions: get detailed point to point driving directions by inputting the start and end address
-Points of Interest (POI): find and browse local businesses (Banks, Parking, Restaurant, etc), one click to show on the map, one click to place a direct call
-Share Information: with anyone in your Contacts list - You can simply click on “Share” to share your location and points of Interest via SMS text messaging to other mobile users
-Out of Cellular Coverage Area: download and save the information for the area you will need in advance of leaving the area covered by your cellular provider. The maps will be available locally on your phone. You can also pan and zoom.
-Favorites: bookmark maps to My Favorites list for one click fast access
Street Highlighting: look up a street and let iMapia highlight it in red on the maps for you
-Speed Benefit 1: 4KB-7KB per map.
-Speed Benefit 2: unlimited zooming/panning with each instance – that means, instead of waiting for a new download each time you pan and zoom, you only have to do one download and then you can pan and zoom an unlimited number of times
