OpenXML Translator (ODF Add-in for Word) is an open source project by OASIS that builds a technical bridge between the Microsoft’s Open XML Format and OpenOffice’s Open Document Format(ODF). This plug-in (for MS Word only as of now) will allow users to open & save ODF documents in Word 2007.

The next phase of the translator project will focus on translators for the Open XML formats used by Microsoft Excel 2007 and PowerPoint 2007.
