A new Beta version of Google Desktop version 5 has been announced. Among the improvements is the ability to preview files in search results directly in Google Desktop Search application or within the web browser. No need to wait for the default file viewer application to load.

The Sidebar has also been redesigned as it samples the color of your wallpaper and fades in the sampled color fitting perfectly onto your desktop.
