A lot of discussion has been going on around the world regarding Windows Vista consuming a lot of battery power than its predecessor, Windows XP. Most of this has been attributed to the newly introduced features in Vista such as Aero Glass and Sidebar.

Microsoft Israel Developer, Tamir Khason, has wriiten a freeware utility for Windows Vista based notebook/laptop computers called Windows Vista Battery Saver that helps you save battery by turning off the Aero Glass interface and Vista Sidebar automatically when the battery goes beyond a certain level or when the computer is not connected to an AC power source. Tamir has done some testing and found that disabling Aero Glass and Vista Sidebar increases battery life by almost an hour.
