Google Labs has released an excellent experimental build of the Google Search homepage called Experimental Search that allows you to search, navigate and open search results within a page using keyboard shortcuts similiar to what is available in GMail. You can use J and K to move up and down the search results page. O or can be used to open the Search result. / puts the cursor in the search box while pressing Esc removes the cursor from the search box. Now if only the shortcuts were customizable, there would be nothing like it.

You can add this link to Opera or Firefox search bar to search directly without going to the Experimental Search page first.
