TrackID is a free service that allows you to capture and record any music, song or sound clip through the mobile phone’s microphone, compare it to digital signatures on Gracenote, and display the media’s track, artist, and album information so that you can save it or send details to friends.
Last week, I had written about a free TrackID application for Nokia S60 3rd Edition based NSeries/ESeries mobile devices. Today, I am going to mention a similiar software for Windows Mobile 5/6 based Pocket PC devices. This utility, available as MusicID, comes preinstalled on Windows Mobile devices available through Cingular. It has now been extracted by an XDA Forum member and available as a free download.
This utility is a 3 day trial but can be extended by deleting keys listed under HKLM\software\MusicID. The download package also contains a MortScript that automates the process of deleting registry keys and extending the trial. One can also try the online web based TrackID HTML script mentioned in my previous post and see if it works on a Windows Mobile based device including Smartphones!
