This is a tutorial to change the default display name of system applications such as Messaging, Contacts, Calendar and folder names such as Tools, Connect, etc in Nokia S60 3rd Edition based mobile devices and add symbols/special characters to it.

1) Highlight an application/folder icon that you want to rename and press the Options softkey

2) Without pressing any button or exiting the Options menu, press the power button (on/off) and select Offline mode

3) Note that the Options menu is still open but the Rename option is available

4) Select Rename and change the name to whatever you want. You can also include symbols such as ? or ? in the name of the application/folder by copying and pasting from a text file.
