Google has launched a mobile optimized version of Picasa Web Albums for mobile devices. With Picasa Web Albums for mobiles, thumbnails and photos are optimized and resized to fit the screen of a cell phone’s screen to save bandwidth and faster downloads.

The main page lists your albums with a thumbnail, the album pages show up to 12 thumbnails and the image view shows a reduced size version of your picture. You can keep a track of photo updates from friends and family by clicking on ‘My Favorites’ from the main screen to see the latest photo albums that your contacts have posted to Picasa Web Albums. You can even post a quick comment on their photos, using your cell phone.

Another new feature for the desktop version of Picasa Web Albums includes ‘Map My Photos’ which lets you show exactly where you took a photo/snapshot. Photos that are geotagged using the desktop version Picasa are automatically geotagged in Picasaweb.
