Vringo Beta is a cool new social application for Nokia S60 3rd edition & Sony Ericsson UIQ3 mobile devices that allows you to share video ringtones between friends, buddies and family members. You share video by choosing what video ringtone plays on their handset when you call them. This works only when both the parties have the Vringo software installed.
Vringo works by sending the content you pick to your buddies’ handsets. This all happens automatically and in the background. Neither you nor your buddies need to do anything.
When you call someone on your buddy list, the Vringo application on your handsets will recognize that you two are buddies and will play the appropriate clip.
The software offers two types of services:
VringForward
VringForward is the video ringtone that plays on your buddy’s handset when you call. Every time you choose a Vringo for a buddy the VringForward will change.
VringBack
VringBack is the video ringtone your buddy has chosen for you to see. It will play whenever you call your buddy. The same clip will play when your buddy calls you. You might say that one user’s VringForward is another user’s VringBack
You can even record your own video and share it as a video ringtone with a recipient from the application itself.
While there are free video ringtones available on the website, licensed content is usually charged. When you have registered for the service you will receive an SMS notification with link to download the application directly to your handset.

Recording a Vringo is invoked from the Options menu or simply by opening the camera lid while the Vringo User Interface is open.
As soon as the camera is activated the user begins recording a Vringo clip – the maximum length of the recording time is 15 seconds.
Once the clip is captured, the user can:
- Set as My Vringo – this sets the clip as the user’s Vringo. On the user’s home page, the clip will both appear in the My Vringo box and it will also appear in the Vringo application.
- Add to My Collection – after which that clip is available in the user’s Vringo Collection.
- Add to Public Library - Uploading a clip implies that from this point on any user in the community site can find this clip in the User Created category.
- Preview Vringo enables the user to preview the clip before uploading it.
- Discard Vringo enables the user to discard the clip altogether.
