Nokia today announced a partnership with Microsoft to introduce support for PlayReady DRM licensed content on S60 and Series 40 platforms. Microsoft PlayReady technology is aimed at mobile devices and supports a wide range of digital content such as music, videos, games, ringtones, images and more. Soon Nokia device users would be able to synchronize & play licensed Windows Media Audio (WMA) and Windows Media Video (WMV) files on their S60 or Series 40 handsets.
Nokia has already adopted Microsoft’s Exchange Activesync protocol in the form of Mail for Exchange. It remains to be seen whether Nokia would introduce support for Windows Mobile based Smartphones in United States where Symbian is not so popular.

1They still don’t get it. No consumer wants DRM-restricted content.
