Vlingo Mobile is a new voice recognition software that allows users to speak or voice-type text into any vlingo-enabled input box on their mobile phones. Once the application is installed and activated, the software sends your voice clip over the internet to vlingo’s server from where it is converted to text and the results sent back to the mobile device and populated into the input field. All this happens pretty quickly over a UMTS internet connection.

One of the first applications based on the above mentioned technology is vlingo FIND, a free local search & maps application through which you can speak your location into the application without typing your street name/zip code and get back results from Yahoo! Maps. And as per Webware, Vlingo allows you speak out and compose SMS text messages using voice recognition technology and send them using the vlingo client, piggybacking on the mobile phone’s SMS capability.
Vlingo Mobile is compatible with any Java J2ME capable mobile device and can be downloaded here
