Adobe has launched a Flash Player 9 Update codenamed Moviestar that includes H.264 standard video support available in Blu-Ray and HD-DVD high definition video players for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.
Flash Player 9 MovieStart also supports HE-AAC audio which is optimized for low-bitrate applications such as streaming audio and “hardware accelerated, multi-core enhanced full screen video playback”. This update should provide a premium web experience for consumers since most popular web video websites such as YouTube, Google Video, MySpace and Metacafe stream videos using the Flash video format (FLV).
H.264 playback will also be supported by the Adobe Media Player (based on AIR) which is due to be released later this year.
