vTap is a free web video search application for Windows Mobile devices that lets you search, browse, view, stream and play web videos from your mobile phone from any source on the Internet in a mobile-optimized format .
Webware reports that vTap uses the metadata of the video (tags, and individual letters/characters on the page where the file is hosted) to create its search index, instead of just words. It then performs a search as you type a query using a unique character-based incremental search, thus making searches for “Arnold Schwarzenegger” videos a breeze. There is also an additional tab to search Wikipedia entries from the application’s user interface.
A web version of vTap for Apple iPhone followed by a Java J2ME midlet for MIDP 2.0 compatible mobile devices is also in the works.
vTap is scheduled to be released on September 10, 2007 and can be downloaded from the homepage. It is interesting to note that vTap is a mobile-only web video application/service.
