Members of the XDA-Developers forum have found a revolutionary hack to enable the Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking (DUN) Profile on Windows Mobile 6 Pocket PC, allowing you to use your device as a cellular modem. Starting from WM 5.0 AKU3, Microsoft removed the DUN profile which is still needed by legacy/incompatible systems such as car kits, Mac OSX or Linux based computers which may or may not support the Bluetooth Personal Area Network (PAN) profile required by Internet Sharing. Now, with this hack, you can enable the Bluetooth DUN profile on most Windows Mobile 5 AKU3 and Windows Mobile 6 Pocket PCs and continue to use the Internet Sharing feature of WM 6.
1) To enable this hack, download and import this [courtesy:winmobiletech.com] registry key into your mobile device using a desktop based remote registry editor and importer such as CeRegEditor
2) Download and extract the contents of this archive into the \Windows directory on your Windows Mobile device through Activesync File Explorer
3) Soft reset the device

Now when you go through the bluetooth discovery and connection wizard, Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking would be listed as a service.
The files listed above have been modified by Microsoft Windows Mobile MVP, Menneisyys, to support more WM5/WM 6 devices based on the original hack at the forum.

2I’ve been trying to perform this hack, but I’m running into the following problem that I wish I could solve. It is not possible to overwrite the incumbent ATCIUI files in the /Windows directory.

3Trying to do this on a Treo running WM6 Pro, CE OS 5.2.1620 Build 18125.0.4.2. First off, CERegEdit says the Reg file is a PC file. When I tell it to go ahead anyway, I get a write error on both keys when it trys to import them. Ultimately what I’m tryinh to do is get my PDA to connect to a Billionton Bluetooth Ethernet AccessPoint I have. Help anyone? Thanks.
