Comodo is the second largest SSL Certification Authority for website Identity Trust & Assurance. They have released a new anti-phishing tool called VerificationEngine for multiple browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, Seamonkey and MSN Explorer. This allows you to verify whether the website where you are securely logging or signing in is really what it claims to be is authentic. Once installed, simply hover your mouse over the brand or logo on a webpage and a green border will surround your browser window and a padlock with details about the certificate.
Key features of Comodo VEngine include:
+ It can check logos such as credit card icons (for online purchasing) web site endorsements such as BBB online or TRUSTe or trade associations are legitimate using BrandVerify.
+ VerificationEngine supports IPVerify which prevents Pharming attacks from succeeding by not only checking the domain name of a sever but also it’s unique IP address during the verification process.
+ Verification of SSL session and encryption endpoint with SSLVerifiy
+ Verification of login boxes with SubmitVerify
+ Audio and visual notifications: Audio feedback can be employed as part of the verification test using a custom .wav file. The Trusted indicator width and colour can also be increased or changed accordingly to aid visual recognition.
+ Supports automatic updates
