OwnSkin has launched a new Web 2.0 service called OwnTape, a free web based tool that allows you to create custom Flash Lite 1.1 or later based screensavers and wallpapers for Nokia S60 and Sony Ericsson. The tool allows you to select multiple images, add colors, design and digital effects to them and add background music to the theme. You can also preview the changes in a preview pane as you design the wallpaper/screensaver.

OwnTape has been selected as an Adobe 2007 MAX Awards Finalist in the Mobile space. Apart from Nokia and Sony Ericsson, these can be used on any mobile device that support Flash Lite 1.1 or later, provided your model supports animated screensavers and wallpapers. Creating an animated wallpaper/screensaver is pretty easy:

+ Upload one or more images. If the image is larger than a mobile device screen resolution, you can cut a selected area from the image(s)
+ Select the background color and border for the picture(s)
+ Choose a design pattern for the background
+ Select the style in which the photos would be displayed (similar to Powerpoint)
+ Select digital effects
+ Choose a frame/border
+ Customize clock/signal/battery design
+ Finally select the background music to be played in mp3,wma or midi format
