Meebo is an all-in-one instant messaging service that allows you to chat with your Yahoo!, Live MSN, Google Talk and AOL IM contacts from a web browser. Recently, they have added a new cross-IM platform feature that allows you to send and receive files to and from your friends and contacts on any instant messaging network- Yahoo!, Live MSN, GTalk and AIM- through Meebo’s web based interface. This service is handy for file transfers when you don’t have adminitrative permissions to install IM software on a machine.

Here are some of the key features of this service:

+ A Meebo account is required to send files
+ A Meebo user can send files to anyone
+ Anyone can receive a file from a Meebo user
+ Currently Meebo users cannot receive files from non-meebo users but this feature will be added soon
+ Maximum file size is limited to 10MB and bandwidth is limited to 30MB

The File Tranfer feature is currently available in Internet Explore and Mozilla Firefox browsers only. To transfer files, simply click on the white button with a green arrow in the chat window.
