Even though there is nothing noteworthy about Microsoft Internet Explorer as a web browser, it is a fact that more than 80% of computer owners use it to browse websites. Thus, being a webmaster it is important that your websiite renders properly on IE. Apart from that, being an end user, it is quite possible that your favorite website renders only on non Internet Explorer. Keeping this in mind, here are two different programs that allow you to install and run Internet Explorer on Linux or Mac OSX.

IEs 4 Linux: This port is based on Wine. IEs4Linux downloads Internet Explorer CAB files from Microsoft’s website. All the files needed are extracted using cabextract and copied to a special wine folder, including Windows Updates for IE. For IE7, due to Wine limitations, it installs the IE6 GUI but renders the IE7 engine.

IEs 4 OSX: Based on Darwine, the Mac port of Wine, this port features a GUI based installer and allows you to run IE version 5, 6 and 7 side by side on Intel based Mac Tiger or Leopard.

Both the above mentioned software allow you to install and use some plug-ins meant for Windows Internet Explorer.
