Linspire, the developer of the Linspire and Freespire desktop Linux distributions, has announced the launch of CNR.com (Click-n-Run) beta, a free Web-based Linux package management system, designed to standardize the process and eliminate the complexity of finding, installing and updating Linux software for the most popular desktop Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, openSUSE and Linspire.
With CNR.com, you can search from thousands of Linux software programs, packages and libraries by title, popularity, similar software, category, Who’s Who, or function, and with just one click install the software on to your computer. There is also a GUI/Command-line based CNR Client that allows you to search and install applications in one click directly to your desktop Linux. You can also get software update notifications and create customized software searches using the client.
All softwares and applications on the website are neatly sorted into various categories such as Business, Education, Desktop Enhancements, Internet, Utilities, Development, etc. And each software has reviews, ratings, descriptions, screenshots and forums where users can share information about the product.
The CNR Client is currently available for the following Linux Distros: Linspire, Freespire and Ubuntu while work is in progress for other distributions such as Debian, Fedora and openSUSE. Click here to visit the download page for CNR Client Beta for Linux.
