WMWifiRouter is a freeware application that allows you to share the cellular connection (GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA/EV-DO) on your Windows Mobile device over an AdHoc WiFi WLAN connection to any wireless client.
Starting with Windows Mobile 5 AKU3 Microsoft included a free “Internet Sharing” application that allowed you to share the data connection on your mobile device to a Windows or Mac PC. But all of these applications only supported sharing your dial-up connection via a USB cable or Bluetooth PAN/DUN connection. This program lets you share your celullar data connection over a WiFi network. This is useful for devices that don’t support Bluetooth PAN or USB Connectivity but do support WLAN, such as Sony PSP, Nintendo Wii, Laptop or iPod Touch.
Here is a summary of how to setup and configure the application. For detailed guidance on each of these steps, visit the main XDA Forum thread here.
Installation:
+ Download the WMWifiRouter application here.
+ Unpack the zip file to a folder on your computer
+ Copy the WMWifiRouter.exe files to your mobile device
Usage:
+ Make sure you have an Ad-Hoc WiFi network configured.
+ Run WMWifiRouter.exe
+ Wait. WMWifiRouter does it’s best to start ICS and initiate the connection, but this can take a few seconds. If the “ICS Status” label at the top of the WMWifiRouter screen says “Connected!”, all should be well.
