Ask Mobile has added a new voice-activated, speech to text directions service for its WAP based Mobile Search site. When you visit wap.ask.com, you will find a new “Voice Entry” link next to the “Directions” option. Clicking on that link initiates a phone call to #347-328-4667, a voice based service provided by Dial DIR-ECT-IONS.

After calling the phone number, users can verbally provide the needed source and destination location addresses. The service will reply to you with a text link that opens up a WAP page with the requested locations’s map and turn by turn directions. You can also opt to get text-only directions via SMS that don’t require mobile browser access.
