TeleFlip has launched FlipMail, a unique, patent-pending technology that delivers e-mail from any e-mail account or service, personal or business, through POP3, IMAP4, Webmail or Exchange Server, directly to your cell phone regardless of your wireless carrier or mobile handset using SMS text messages in the form of fliplette. You can also reply to the email via SMS from your cellphone after reading it.
A fliplette is a text version of your email that is sent to your cell phone. Fliplettes are limited to 120 characters each. When an email is longer than 120 characters, the message is broken down into multiple fliplettes and sent as separate text messages. If you don’t have an unlimited SMS plan, you can limit the number of fliplettes recieved by signing into your account and setting the Email Message Length.
You can then create a custom address book containing the list of people you want to get flipMail from anytime. There is also an option to import your contact list from any other email provider in the form of a CSV file.
Using FlipMail’s scheduling service, you can set specific range of time for weekdays and different range for weekends to match your schedule so that you will only get email alerts during the times that your service is on.
And when you reply to a flipMail message from your phone, the recipient will receive an email from you as if you were answering from your email account.
Currently, FlipMail is limited to USA and Canada based mobile carriers.
