Spicebird is an free and open source collaboration client from Synovel for WindowsXP, Vista and Linux OS. It simplifies communication for users by providing integrated access to the various tools of collaboration, like email, calendaring and instant messaging, in a single application. It provides easy access to various web services while retaining all the advantages of a desktop application. The application is built on top of mozilla applications such as Thunderbird, Sunbird and Xmpp4moz and extends their features.
Here are the key highlights of SpiceBird:
+ EMails: The email client is based on Thunderbird. It can learn to classify spam when you mark emails as Junk, allows you to group mails by any field, detects phishing, tag messages, save repeated searches as virtual folders, search as you type. An intelligent features is that when you receive a new mail, Spicebird checks for the presence of any event information in the mail text and prompts you to create a calendar event. You can schedule the event by just clicking on it.
+ Calendar and tasks applications: Drag and drop calendar meetings and appointments to create or re-schedule them. You can also subscribe to other peoples’ public calendars
+ Subscribe to RSS feeds: Preview content of RSS feeds in tooltip by highlighting the article. Clicking on an item opens the corresponding webpage in your favorite browser.
+ Manage contacts : The card view displays all information about a contact similiar to Outlook 2007
+ Instant Messaging: Add multiple Jabber accounts and chat with your contacts from SpiceBird. The current IM status of a contact -online or offline- is displayed in the contact entry or email headers.
