Firefox and Opera are the only two browsers that hog the limelight when it comes to competing with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Yet, there is another web browser called Maxthon which has been in the market for sometime. And with the release of the its latest v2.0, I thought it would be nice to write about the noteworthy features of this commendable browser, some of which are not even available in Firefox or Opera:

+ Anti-Freeze: This is quite a thoughtful feature. The increased usage of Ajax Technology in websites casuing frequent freezing while browsing which ultimately leads to crashing. [Test]. Maxthon Browser has developed a new technology to solve this problem, making surfing reliable.
+ Mouse Gestures: You can hold the right mouse button and perform the gestures to access common features such as Back, Forward, Refresh, and Close Tab. You can even add your wn custom mouse gestures from the Setup Center.
+ Super Drag&Drop: You can simply drag & drop a keyword with your mouse in address bar to perform a search. Click on images when holding the Ctrl key, the image you clicked will be saved to specified folder.
+ Smart Acceleration: The Super Acceleration Mode can improve your browse speed even more
+Undo List: Restore tabs closed mistakenly from this list. The Back/Forward History is also saved here.
+ Online Favorites Service: Access your Favorites content anywhere with Maxthon Online Favorites Service.
+ Super Proxy: Maxthon Browser can switch between proxies automatically based on your Advanced Proxy Rule setting.
+ URL Alias: Give a name to your favorite website, and then visit it by simply typing the name in the Address Bar.
+ Utilities: You can add shortcuts of your programs in Maxthon, and start them with a single click.
You can even set programs to start and shutdown with Maxthon Browser.
+ Screen Capture: Capture Full Screen, Selected Area, Selected Window and Page Content as an image.
+ Web Sniffer: Web Sniffer can help you find the real URLs of streaming content
+ IE/COM Plug-ins: You can now use Internet Explorer plugins in Maxthon: Click “Tools” > “Maxthon Setup Center” > “Plugins” > “IE Extensions” and select from the list of installed IE plugins.
+ Downloader: Supports P2P technology which can improve download speed, and enable download of some files which no longer hosted in the original server.
