Fring has announced a special, pre-release version of a native instant messaging and VoIP application for Apple iPhone that works over Wi-Fi WLAN. Fring for iPhone allows you to chat with your friends and family members on the following networks: fring, Skype, Windows Live-MSN, Google Talk, ICQ, Twitter, Yahoo! & AIM and also enables you to make free mobile calls.

Fring releases Free Native Instant Messaging and Mobile VoIP App for Apple iPhone

Being a native application, Fring requires your Apple iPhone to be jailbroken.

1) Once your device is open to third party apps, launch the Installer application and go to the Sources screen.
2) Click Edit and then Add.
3) In the Add Source window enter http://fring.com/iphone.xml and tap OK.
4) You will then see a progress bar Refreshing sources.
5) When the Categories screen loads, scroll down list and tap fring.
6) On next screen, scroll to the fring category and open the fring screen
7) Tap the install button and click Done.

You should now be ready to chat and make phone calls from Apple Iphone. The look and feel of a native application is definitely better than a non-intuitive web based application.
