Vollee has released a beta version of Linden Lab’s Second Life mobile client for Java J2ME compatible mobile devices that allows you to view and access your 3D Second Life Virtual World from a mobile phone. Vollee has taken into account the screen size, keypad layout and adapted the application to make it suited for mobile phones while preserving the high quality of the original game. You can connect to the service via Wi-Fi WLAN or any mobile internet connection such as GPRS, 3G, HSDPA, EVDO or UMTS as it is optimized for low latency on high speed networks (the time it takes between the moment a key is pressed and the time that the resulting action takes place).

To use the application, you need to already have a Second Life account and should have gone through the creation of your avatar and basic training. You can then, as a Second Life Resident, simply log-in using your existing account and continue your avatar driven adventures from your mobile device. Other features of Second Life Mobile include the ability to fly or teleport yourself anywhere in the virtual world, explore it to your heart’s content, look up and search for friends and chat with them in real-time. You can also view popular places and search events from the mobile client.
Visit vollee.com/secondlife for more details and download the application.
