Nokia has introduced S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 (FP2) with the launch of Nokia N78. Apart from the many new features and improvements in FP2 reviewed by Mobile-Review.com, one of the most promising new feature is “Remote Drives” based on the WebDav protocol.

The “Remote Drives” option provides the ability to setup network drives located on any accessible computer and connect to them via WiFi-WLAN, EDGE, 3G, Bluetoooth or GPRS from your device as if they are local to your mobile phone’s storage space.
These drives appear as standalone local system drives in file managers, allowing you to transfer files to and from them easily. One annoying behaviour of the program is that whenever you try to access the network, the system retrieves the status of all remote drives regardless of whether you need them or not and errors out if it cannot connect to any of them (for example, when your home PC is turned off).
To setup a new remote drive, goto Menu–>Settings–>Connection–>Remote Drives and follow the instructions on the screen.
