Today, Apple announced the 3G/GPS version of iPhone consisting of iPhone 2.0 software and a new synchronization service called MobileMe at WWDC 2008.

iPhone 2.0 supports the following Enterprise-level features:

Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support: iPhone 2.0 supports the complete Airsync protocol with secure push email and over-the-air contacts and calendar sync as well as ability to perform common tasks such as accepting meeting invitations and finding contacts in the company directory or Global Address List (GAL). Also, IT administrators can securely manage any remote iPhone that contains confidential company information using remote wipe and enforced security and password policies.

iPhone’s email client supports viewing rich HTML formatted email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, PDF, JPEG, and iWork attachments. Users can even zoom in on important information with the tap of a finger.

Cisco VPN: iPhone 2.0 software supports Cisco IPSec VPN allowing authentication via password, two-factor token, or digital certificate. iPhone also supports WPA2 Enterprise with 802.1X authentication

MobileMe for iPhone and iPod Touch allows you to keep your email, contacts, calendar, and Safari bookmarks always up to date between your PC, Mac, iPhone and iPod Touch. MobileMe stores all your email, contacts, and calendars on a secure online server (”cloud”) and pushes them down to your mobile device. When you make a change on one device, the cloud updates the others. Push happens automatically, instantly, and continuously. It is compatible with Mail, Address Book, and iCal on a Mac; Microsoft Outlook on a PC with Windows XP or Vista; and the built-in applications on your iPhone or iPod touch.
