T9 Nav Beta is a mobile search and discovery application developed by Nuance that lets you incrementally find any locally stored content, applications, phone settings and options on your Nokia S60 mobile device by just typing in the first few letters of whatever you’re looking for such as websites, bookmarks, media, calendar, phone functions, contacts, etc. T9 Nav works right from the home screen of your mobile phone.

After the application is launched, you can start typing, and the results are displayed from an indexed database in real-time. As soon as you press a number, T9 starts looking for anything on your device that matches the numbers or the letters on that key. So if you press “2” it finds any contacts, calendar items, ringtones, applications, bookmarked websites or anything else beginning with 2, a, b or c.

As you press more keys it continues to refine the results. For example, typing 7-4-5 will lead you to “Silent” which when clicked upon will activate the Silent profile. T9 Nav also supports multiple names. So when you type “time”, “clock” or “alarm”, T9 Nav will take you to the clock setting on your phone

T9 Nav: Search-as-you-Type Phone Settings, Options & Local Content on Nokia S60 from Home Screen

T9 Nav displays “high-frequency” items (the things you search for most often) at the top of the list, in a tabbed format. The first tab shows the best results for the keys you’ve pressed so far. Scrolling towards the right will only show specific categories such as contacts, settings, media, bookmarks, applications, and other categories. You can press Up/Down to navigate the results, and press “Select” on an item to activate it. Each found item is preceded by an icon which indicates to which category it belongs.

As a part of the beta testing program, the first 50 beta participants to complete all 5 T9 Nav user feedback email surveys will win a $50 American Express gift certificate.
