CitySense by Sense Networks is a freeware application for mobile devices that analyzes anonymous historic and real-time GPS and WiFi location data collected from cell phones, GPS receivers, WiFi-WLAN hotspots, and taxis over the last few years combined with real-time feeds to display a heatmap of the most popular places at a given time.

Citysense can show you where, based on historic and real-time location data, the most “unusual” levels of activity are going on. You then have the option of looking up nearby businesses on Yelp and Google Maps, or bookmarking locations on Socialight.

CitySense: View Nightlife Activity Heatmap on your Mobile based on Historic & Real-Time GPS Location

When you use Citysense, the application learns about the kinds of places you visit via GPS without sharing that information to anyone. In its next release, Citysense will not only tell you where everyone is right now, but where everyone like you is right now. The application will compare your history and preferences with those of other users, and show you where you’re most likely to find people with similar tastes at that moment. So each person’s nightlife map will look a little different, and will display a unique top hotspot list.

Currently, the application is compatible only with Blackberry smartphones (with an iPhone version in the works) and is available for download at www.citysense.com from your mobile phone browser.
